Every hard disk that supports S.M.A.R.T. is able to run self tests. Using O&O DriveLED you can start a self test of your hard disk with only one mouse click. During the tests several parameters and functions are being consecutively checked. Among other things, the interface, the surface and the mechanics - actually every read head - are being checked. Afterwards the error log will be read and finally also the S.M.A.R.T. system itself will be tested. At the end and if there were no failures found, the corresponding entry lights up in green color. If some failures occurred, O&O DriveLED will notify you. In this case it is recommended to backup your data. Access monitoring on the desktop Have you often asked yourself why your hard disk starts up even when you aren't writing anything to it? Until now, you could only check hard disk activity by looking at the little lamp (LED) on the front of your computer.
